CULTURAL COMPETENCY (3 CE Hours)
This course explores how cultural awareness can help real estate professionals communicate effectively and provide fair, respectful service to every consumer. Through discussion and self-assessment, students will consider how cultural differences may affect their interactions with buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants. Topics include:

What cultural competency means in real estate practice

How communication styles and cultural differences can affect the consumer experience

The history and legacy of housing segregation

Fair housing laws, protected classes, and the REALTOR® Code of Ethics

Using disclosure forms and other resources available in different languages

Steps agents and brokerages can take to provide consistent service to all consumers

The course encourages participants to examine their current practices and identify ways to help every consumer feel informed, heard, and respected throughout a real estate transaction.
