Fair housing remains one of the most critical responsibilities for real estate professionals. Through real-world examples, case studies, and interactive discussions, participants will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of the protected classes under federal and state law.
  • Recognize exceptions to fair housing laws, including the Mrs. Murphy Rule and senior housing.
  • Learn current rules regarding service, therapy, and support animals, and how to handle reasonable accommodations.
  • Identify pitfalls in advertising that may unintentionally violate fair housing standards.
  • Discuss contemporary challenges such as source of income protections, undocumented tenants, and steering.
  • Review essential forms and disclosures required by NYS and NAR.

With a strong foundation in both historical context and present-day regulations, this course prepares REALTORS® to confidently navigate fair housing issues in sales, rentals, and advertising—ensuring compliance while upholding the highest professional standards.
