This course examines the processes and practical considerations involved in foreclosure and real estate owned (REO) property transactions. Students will learn how these transactions differ from traditional sales and how to guide clients through their potential challenges. Topics include:

The differences between short sales, foreclosures, and REO properties

The foreclosure process in New York State

Finding properties and working with buyers on offers, financing, inspections, and closing timelines

Potential title concerns and other issues that may affect a transaction

Representing buyers and financial institutions while addressing agency and fair housing responsibilities

The course equips agents to better explain the process, coordinate with other professionals, and help clients make informed decisions when buying or selling these properties.
